Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kenya Peterson and I am so excited to be your child’s 6th grade teacher. During the 2019-2020 school year, I will be teaching your child Math.
This is my 1st year teaching in Richmond County. Before my time at Richmond Hill K-8, I have also taught mathematics in Barrow County and Dekalb County. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education from Augusta University. I am certified in Mathematics and Social Studies. I will begin working towards my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through in January 2020. Outside of teaching I enjoy reading, singing, yoga, and listening to music!
Throughout the year, it is important to have a strong parent-teacher relationship. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. You can email me at PeterKe@BOE.Richmond.k12.ga.us or call me at (706)796-4944. Also, please check the school’s website often for homework assignments as well as important updates. I update my page as much as possible with reminders, news, homework, and other information that might be helpful. You can also text @d67kee to 81010 to receive updates on the Remind app.
I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your children! I look forward to watching them learn, grow and have a fantastic time in 6th grade!

Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kenya L. Peterson
When I decided to become a teacher, I realized that I had been teaching most of my life. My first career was in engineering where I was a drafter and drafting supervisor for an international engineering firm. It was here where I fell in love with education by teaching fellow engineers how to use the company's drafting software.
I am a native of Augusta, Georgia and a graduate of John S. Davidson Fine Arts School and Augusta University. I am a mother of three handsome, young men, Khalil, Armand and Nasir. Khalil lives and works in Augusta, Georgia. Armand teaches chorus and music theory at Greenbelt Middle School in Landover, Maryland. Nasir recently graduated from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio.
