• Welcome to Southside Elementary's

    Counseling Corner!

My name is Eleanor Landman.  I joined Southside in October, 2017, and have truly enjoyed getting to know Southside students, families, faculty, and staff.  I look forward to continuing to support student success through the counseling program.

The Counseling Program at Southside is aligned to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National model. It focuses on school success through academic, social/emotional and career development. The counseling program assists students through the following activities:

    Classroom Lessons

Regular classroom guidance sessions are scheduled for all Kindergarten through 5th grade classes. Classes support Georgia’s Common Core Curriculum, and include ASCA National Standards and National Career Development Guidelines.

    Group Counseling

Counseling groups are formed throughout the year based on student need. Groups typically include  4 to 8 students and meet weekly to focus on a specific topic. Group counseling is an excellent way for students to work together, support one another, and learn new skills.  Sessions are scheduled to minimize loss of academic instructional time. Parent permission is requested in order for a student to participate in group counseling.

    Individual Counseling

Confidential short-term counseling is available to all students at Southside. Parents, teachers, or students may make a referral for counseling. If you would like to refer your child for individual counseling, please call or email me.

    Parent/Teacher Consultation

The counselor is available to work with parents and teachers to assist in planning strategies to help promote academic, personal, and social success. The counselor is also available to refer families to appropriate resources within the greater community.
