Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year at Warren Road Elementary.
Elementary School Counselors spend a large percentage of their time in the classroom teaching guidance curriculum under the umbrella of the American School Counselors' Association (ASCA) Comprehensive Guidance Curriculum.
Each month I will be visiting classrooms grades K-5 to teach character education and career development.
The August lesson will be "Orientation to the School Counselor and the Guidance Program."
I will introduce and re-introduce myself to new and returning students. We will talk about expectations and being a successful student at Warren Road Elementary. Students have an opportunity to participate in activities as part of the counselor program learning domains: academic, social/personal and career development. September's lesson is all about "Studying Smart." Students will learn the best habits and practices to when it comes to studying smart, and managing their school time effectively.
Students grades 1-5 will participate in College and Career Readiness (CCRPI) lessons which is in line with the Georgia State Department of Education Common Core Standards. You may view the career clusters assigned to each grade level by going to gadoe.org. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to Career Pathways. Click on Counselor Resources. Choose Elementary Counselors to view all the career clusters grades 1-5.
I look forward to a wonderful year. I will be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns regarding your child or children.
