The pupose of this course is to study the major religions of the world, concentrating on a systematic comparison of the doctrines and practices of the world's major religions.  In general, the comparative study of religion yields a deeper understaning of the fundamental philospophical concerns of relition such as ethics, metaphysics, and the nature and form of salvation.  Studying such material is meant to give one a richer and more sophisticated understaning of human beliefs and practices regarding the sacred, numinous, spirtitual and divine.
