Dr. Desherica Partlow-Williams
Dr. Desherica Partlow-Williams was born in Lincolnton, Georgia and raised there until she graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1993. After her high school graduation, she decided to embark on her college career at Georgia Southern University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree. After receiving her degree, she moved back home and started her career at Gracewood State School and Hospital where she served as a Recreational Therapist supervising three areas. While working at GSSH, she enrolled at Augusta University to pursue her Master’s Degree in Special Education.
During that time, Dr. Partlow-Williams applied with the Warren County School System and was hired as a Special Education Teacher. In addition to teaching, she served as a Hospital Homebound Teacher, Cheerleader Advisor, Trained in Assertive Discipline, Trainer of the Trainer (Thinking Maps), Leadership Team, Team Leader, Mentor Teacher, Reading Endorsement Teacher, and many other capacities. Towards the end of being a servant in Warren County, Dr. Partlow-Williams decided to enroll at Cambridge College to pursue a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis on Administration. This educational experience gave her the opportunity to provided professional development support at the middle and high school in Warrenton, as well as an opportunity to serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, GAPSS. On GAPSS she spent time mentoring students, heading up programs at school for students, working closely with teachers, administration, and other important stakeholders within the community. She received the honor of being chosen as Teacher of the Year and several other awards.
Her professional career transition her from Warrenton, Georgia to Allendale-Fairfax Elementary, where Dr. Partlow-Williams took on additional professional responsibilities. Her primary responsibility was to support the principal, serve as the curriculum specialist, and implement professional development for all teachers, and paraprofessionals. On numerous occasions, she served in the capacity of acting principal at various schools within the district. While serving at Allendale-Fairfax Elementary, the school was able to meet AYP and showed growth in a number of areas. Supervising the dedicated educators there made this job easier for all people involved.
After serving in South Carolina for over a year, Dr. Partlow-Williams decided to relocate to the Columbia County School System where she served at numerous schools, including Columbia Middle School, Grovetown Middle School, Evans High School, Euchee Creek Elementary School, and Lakeside High School. While in the Columbia County School System, Dr. Partlow-Williams served as a Special Education Specialist, Special Education Teacher, Hospital Homebound Teacher, BETA Club Advisor, Young Women of Style and Grace Advisor, Prom Committee Chair Person, RAMP Student Advisor, and Leadership Team Member. She also worked during the summers as a Summer School Teacher, Extended School Year Teacher, summer testing and was presented at leadership conferences. During her tenure with the Columbia County School System, she dedicated her efforts and leadership abilities to serving students and ensuring quality of education at all levels.
In 2010, Dr. Partlow-Williams completed another educational milestone with the confirmation of a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from South Carolina State University. Now, Dr. Partlow-Williams is on a new journey with a new set of duties and responsibilities. She has obtained a position as an assistant principal with the Richmond County School System, serving at T.W. Josey High School. Dr. Partlow is enthusiastic about the visionary leadership, instructional leadership, organizational leadership, and the collaborative leadership that will enable her to work with and support school administration, members of the staff, students, parents, and key leaders in the Josey community.
She never forgot the educational impact from her coaches, from her step-dad, one of her middle school principals, and her college professors on her life. They encouraged and motivated her to go further and never give up. With that attitude, Dr. Partlow-Williams stayed focused as a wife, supportive family member, friend, and colleague. She encompasses a deeply-rooted spiritual base and a highly supportive cast of family, friends, and colleagues.
Dr. Partlow-Williams is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She loves watching sports with her husband, enjoys any type of dessert, traveling, and is happily married to the wonderful Mr. Warren Williams. As she embarks upon this journey as Assistant Principal of T.W. Josey High School, Dr. Partlow-Williams remains humbled, openminded, team oriented, and even more focused on providing an abundance of opportunities in a learning-focused environment crafted to meet the needs of both teachers and students.
