Mrs. Shirley J. Whigham
I am excited to have my students back in the classroom and am looking forward to a successful school year. There are some changes our parents of our exceptional students need to be aware of within our department. For starters, I would like to congratulate Mr. Farris Hudson as our Special Education Dept. Co-Chair for our school! He will mainly be responsible for all middle grades and will be teaching small group ELA and Social Studies for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I am excited and thankful for him and know he will work hard to continue meeting the needs of our middle school students.
I will be continuing to manage our department but with a primary focus on elementary grades. I have the priviledge of teaching 4th and 5th grades within the small group class in room 801 this year alongside Ms. Jackson. I am thankful for those of you who have known me since our school opened and are already expressing excitement. Let's keep that same energy all year long!
Other teachers have a few changes to their assignments as well and we would like to welcome a few new faces this year:
•We welcome Mr. Timothy Johansen to our team as our middle grades inclusion Math teacher and 4th-5th grades small group teacher alongside me.
•Mr. Richardson is returning to us with a focus on small group Math and Science for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades alongside our para Ms. Jones.
•Mrs. Lang is returning to us with a focus on small group K-3rd grades alongside our para, Ms. Valencia.
•Mr. Englade is returning to us with a continued focus on elementary grades inclusion.
•Ms. AJ is returning to us as our DHH teacher alongside our paras, Ms. BJ and Ms.Brand.
We are geard up for the new year and hope all students come ready to S.O.A.R- Maintaining self-control, being on-task & on time, accepting others, and showing respect is the Belair way! Our school has many exciting rewards for students who demonstrate these qualities, so help them continue to be there best and make every day count! Let's make it a great year; GO FALCONS!
