It is an honor to serve as your Instructional Specialist for the 2021-2022 school year as we embark upon productive student outcomes and achievement. As a veteran of the United States Army, discipline, honor and integrity are instilled internally, and play a major role in my approaches to life. This is my 14th year in education starting in my home state North Carolina (ECPPS), then Virginia (SPS) and now in the state of which I plan to retire, Georgia (Gwinnett and Richmond Counties). My experience in education includes, tutoring, assistant teaching, teacher (face to face and virtual), team leader, academic/instructional coach, Instructional Specialist and Intensive In-Home Counseling. Having exposure to ESOL, special education, and regular education populations in addition to low performing populations have all equipped me with knowing how to adjust to any learning environment in addition to viewing situations from multiple perspectives.
My educational philosophy places an emphasis on building a positive culture and nuturing learning environment to boost student achievement. I believe wholeheartedly that positive relationships among stakeholders is the key to sustainability and progress. In addition, it inspires students to be ok with performing at their personal best and allows educators to feel comfortable with stepping out of their comfort zone to support students. Communication among all stakeholders exudes hope and pushes us a step forward as we navigate the roads to greater student outcomes and upholding the mission and vision of our district. When approaching any academic challenge, the solution should be centered around “we”: the district, students, staff, parents and the entire community without losing focus of celebrating individual victories along the way. I look forward to being an active component of change and an advocate for best practices in addition to being an active visionary within our Hephzibah High community for students, staff, and parents.
