What is the role of the School Social Worker?
School Social Workers work to eliminate any barriers that a student may experience by working with the school, staff, student, and their family. We provide services to students for their educational needs, as well as their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing, so that they may be successful in school. We also assist in identifying at risk and homeless students, while also assisting with varying resources and programs. We provide services and supports to parents and or guardians as well, with various resources, community partners, and information, as well as advocating for them and their student. We also provide various supports for the staff within the school, through consultations, collaboration, and professional learning. We also work as liason between the school, parent, and the community.
