Science safety is non-negotiable. The responsibility of managing safety in the science classroom is in the hands of the teachers and students. It is up to the teacher to create an environment based on clear procedures and rules that promote proper lab safety. By establishing and enforcing clear procedures and rules, teacher prevents risky behaviors becoming an issue in the classroom.
As many of you already know, new standards in Georgia were adopted for grades K-12. These standards are known as the Georgia Standards of Excellence(GSE). The new standards are based on science education research from the last 10 years that was compiled into a National Research Council document called "A Framework for K-12 Science Education".
