Welcome to Virtual Learning,
This page is specifically designed for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade virtual students assigned to the BYD Core Class.
We will use CODE.org, and ZOOM as our primary learning platforms. We will also access YouTube videos, Kahoot It and Quizizz websites throughout the semester.
CODE.org:
1. Students must create Code.org accounts with their own email addresses. If you already have a Code.org account associated with your email address, you can skip this step. RCSS email format is username@student.rck12.net. USE YOUR REAL NAME OR YOU WILL BE DELETED! Please remember your password!

BYD Core Weekly Progress Check

Before each Friday, you should have completed the coding lessons/challenges, watched a video, and completed the Quizizz for the video.

Join codes for each Quizizz will be sent to your school email on the Monday for that week.

You may work at your own pace.

If you encounter coding problems, email me the Lesson # and actvitiy # and I will send you information to help.

You may have three (3) attempts at each Quizizz. I will use your high score.

On Thursdays, I will record a grade for your coding progress and your Quizizz score.

On Fridays, I will email you the new Quizizz code for the following weeks lesson.

During our Friday Zoom session we will complete a group Kahoot It activity based upon the information in the video or the programming vocabulary.

BYD Core Syllabus

Class Policy:
Students are expected to spend at least 55 minutes each day, Monday through Friday, engaged in lessons related to this class.
All students must sign in and attend every session to our weekly virtual (Zoom) meeting to recieve credit for this class.
If absent from the synchronous session, it is the student’s responsibility to review the recorded lesson and any assignments given.

Class Rules:

Attend every session.

Enter your zoom waiting room 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time.

Be present and engaged throughout the entire synchronous learning lesson.

Do not have other people, animals, music, or other types distractions or inappropriate objects in the background.

Sign into Code.org account prior to signing into Zoom.

Be prepared to sign into Kahoot It and Quizizz during the Zoom session.

Have your specific questions about the lessons ready to ask the teacher.

100 - 90% A
89 - 80% B
79 - 70% C
69 - 60% D
59% and below F
Summative – 20% (Test/Quiz)
Formative – 80% (Coding, Participation) -
