2021 Speech Contest Application
The Rotary Club of Augusta sponsors a speech contest for high school students in Richmond and Columbia Counties. The 1st place award is $1,000, and the 2nd place award is $500. Both winners will then compete at the Rotary Zone level. The Zone winner will present his or her winning speech at the Rotary District Conference in the spring where he or she will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
The Rotary Club of Augusta contest will be on Feb. 22, 2021 at the Miller Theater. The 1st and 2nd place winners will then present their speeches during a Rotary Club of Augusta meeting, where they will receive their awards. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS FEB. 15.
Students must write and present a speech of 3-4 minutes in length on one of two topics. One is the the Rotary International President’s theme for 2020-21, “Rotary Opens Opportunities.” The other is the below-listed Rotary 4-Way Test:
“Of the things that we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
