Welcome

As Richmond County School System rolls out our PowerUp campaign, we would like for you to be informed. This course is designed to answer your questions and to get you ready to support your student in using technology. This course is created in Canvas so that you can get an understanding of how courses are set up. Because it is public, we cannot use many of the Canvas tools that your students will be able to use, but we invite you to become an observer in your student's Canvas account so that you can see coursework and assignment calendars.

Accessibility

Canvas by Instructure provides a user experience that is easy, simple, and intuitive. Canvas is designed to allow limited customization of colors and schemes to be accessible for all users. The National Federation of the Blind granted Canvas the Gold Level Web Certification in 2010. Special attention has been paid to making Canvas screen-readable.

Accessibility Tools

Microsoft Immersive Reader enhances your reading experience by improving accessibility and boosting reading comprehension. You can access Microsoft Immersive Reader from the Immersive Reader icon at the top right of any page in the Canvas course experience. Video Captions are available for most videos within Canvas. To view the video captions, click the Settings icon then select the Captions link. For more information about the reader, visit the Instructure Community Guide for How do I view captions in a video?
