Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Rebecca Akins
Hello! Welcome to Belair K-8! My name is Rebecca Akins and I will be the 7th and 8th grade ELA (English Language Arts) teacher at Belair. I am very excited to be here and look forward to getting to know you all.
This school year marks my ninth year teaching, but first year in Richmond County. I have had the privilege of teaching not only in Georgia, in Polk County, but also in Louisiana, both New Orleans and Baton Rouge. My husband and I are originally from the northwest GA area and are new to Augusta. My husband is the Worship and Education Pastor at Fleming Baptist Church in Augusta. That job was the reason for our relocating to this area, and I am so glad it did. We do not have any children at the moment, but we have a wonderful rescue dog named Ollie. He is really like our kid. I graduated with my two undergraduate degrees from Truett McConnell University (Truett McConnell College) in Cleveland, GA. I am currently in the process of aquiring my masters in education.
As a teacher, I believe in working hard, being there for my students, and always promotting a positive, high-academic atomosphere in my classroom. I am here to answer all your questions. If I do not know the answer, I will try my hardest to figure it out. I believe that communication can make or break an educational system, so please feel free to email me or use Remind to contact me. I will always try to get back in touch with you as soon as I can. I will be your students biggest fan, especially at our sporting events. Make sure to stop by and see me in the concession stand!
I know that we will have a great year here at Belair! I look forward to working with you to make this an amazing first year!
