REMIND CODE FOR PARENTS...
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at Hephzibah High School! I am honored to be your child’s British Literature/ American Literature teacher. I look forward to a creative, challenging and successful year. Most importantly, I look forward to experiencing each student’s unique writing style and creativity in the classroom.
In British Literature & Composition, students will experience historical English and British Literary works from the Anglo-Saxon Period to the present. Students will deepen their understanding of the ways in which the English language and literary concepts have evolved throughout the literary periods through a variety of literary genres including non-fiction, novels, short stories, poetry, essays, and plays.
Students tend to find the material to be challenging. However, every student can be successful if communication is established and remains open. As your student prepares for life after high school, I ask that you discuss professional expectations. There are several expectations that I have for each student. All students should:
Be prepared- Bring all materials. Handle personal business before class begins.
Be on time- Class starts when the bell rings. Tardiness = missed instruction.
Be respectful- Use academic and non-offensive language. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Be responsible- Keep track of assignment due dates. Attend weekly tutoring sessions, as needed.
Be positive. This class is challenging. Don’t give up! It is about progress, not perfection.
Students that choose not to follow the expectations outlined above will receive the following consequences in increasing order:
(1) Verbal warning
(2) Teacher-Student conference
(3) Teacher-Parent phone conference
(5) Office Referral
I believe that students should be rewarded for their hard work and accomplishments, as well. Expect phone calls and emails at regular intervals to brag about your student’s exceptional work, improvement, high scores, etc. Exceptional work will be displayed on our student work wall and class shout-outs are common.
I ask that you and your student contact me with any questions. I may be reached by phone at 706-592-2089 or by email at email@example.com. Remind codes will be given out during the first week of school. You will find the supply list below this letter.
I look forward to a great year as we work together to explore literature one page at a time!
