• Talent Show Information:

    The application period for the Talent show is now closed.  We have almost 60 students signed up to audition for the show.  Due to that, several cuts will have to be made.  Students were sent home a rubric and a rule sheet on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The information contained in that letter was:

    There will be no make up dates for the auditions except in cases of extreme emergencies.   Auditions will be held on 2 daytes:

    PRE K  through 3rd Grade:  Audition is November 1st from 3:00 - 4:00 (may go later now due to the number of applications)

    4th and 5th grades:  Audition is November 3rd from 3:00 - 4:30 (May go later)

    Applicants will receive notice of their acceptance into the show by Wednesday, November 9th. 

    STUDENTS WHO ARE ACCEPTED MUST ATTEND THE FOLLOWING REHEARSALS:

    PreK through 3rd Grade:  November 15th and 29th from 3:00 until 4:30

    4th and 5th grade:  November 17th and December 1st: from 3:00 until 4:30

    Dress rehearsal for all grade levels in the cafeteria on the stage :

    December 6th and 8th from 3:00 until 4:30

    Guidelines below:

    * A mat will be present for gymnastics, contortionist, karate, etc.

    * Microphones, tables, chairs, CD player will be provided

    *All other props, costumes, etc are the responsibility of the act.

    * ONLY one teacher's device for all music will be allowed to connect to the Bluetooth device.  Therefore, make sure that you have sent in the name and artist of the song on the slip proviced.

    *Acts should be under 3 minutes long each.

    * Judges will be using the rubric sent home with the students for selecting the participants.

    *Parents are not allowed into the auditions unless they are part of the act.

    *Acceptance will be sent by letter for students who qualified for the show.

    Students who are late being picked up more than once will bbe disqualified from the show.

    * The show will be on December 13th. Time TBA

    *All music must be non-violent, drug free, weapon free, and appropriate for elementary students.  NO "Clean" versions of inappropriate songs are acceptable.

Hello parents and friends of Goshen Elementary!  I am so excited about working with your children!  

You may want to know who I am.  I spent 24 years as a chorus and general music teacher in a middle school in Augusta, Georgia.  Four years ago I came to Goshen Elementary and I absolutely LOVE Goshen!  You have some wonderfully talented children.

I received my education at the following schools:

Associate in Music -  Truett McConnell College, Cleveland Georgia

Bachelor of Arts in Music Education -  Mercer University, Macon Georgia

Master of Arts in Religious Education with a focus on Childhood Education -  Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas

 

I started playing piano and taking piano lessons at the age of 7.  Music was very important to me.  I sang in children's choirs, youth choirs and adult choirs in church.  I began playing the flute in 6th grade and singing in the school chorus in 7th grade and was able to attend college on music scholarships.  

I still play piano at my home church and have been there for 28 years.  

If you are a musical person, you know what I mean when I say that my music teachers helped to form the person I am today.  I hope to be the kind of teacher that inspires your children to do their very best at whatever they would like to achieve.
