Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is John Brown and I am excited to be teaching 8th-grade Science, Physical Science and 6th-grade Social Studies this year. I taught middle school math and science in North Carolina for the past five years in Swansboro, New Bern, and Havelock. In addition, I taught second, fourth, and fifth grades when I lived in Yokosuka and Okinawa, Japan. With all of that said I enjoy teaching science the most because of the hands-on activities. Science allows us to discover things that can help people. I hope that we have a great year either virtual or in person.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Studies from the University of Maryland Global College, Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, and Post Master’s Certificate in School Administration in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. I retired from the Navy after working in the medical field and became a teacher to inspire students.
My goal is to have students think out of the box when it comes to science and social studies. This requires students to be actively involved in his/her learning. Success happens when we work together as a team to include parents/guardians. I look forward to getting to know each of you this school year!
