Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Jewel Pettiford, and I am an English Language Arts teacher at Westside Comprehensive High School. I began my teaching career in 2005 as an elementary school English Language Arts teacher in Augusta, GA after receiving my B.A. in English at Georgia State University. I became interested in teaching older students, so I decided to pursue a M.Ed English Education at Augusta University. After graduating from Augusta,  I spent several years continuing my work teaching elementary schools and English classes at Augusta University.  Then I left my teaching career to rear my young children.  Once they began school, I worked as a Real Estate Agent for several years, but I am truly excited to return to Education!
