  • Welcome to my class!

Dear New and returning Spartan students & parents:

It's hard to believe but it's that time of the year again – the beginning of a new and exciting 2021-2022 school year.

Welcome back! Parents, you are a part of the teaching staff and are just as important to your Childs education as we are, so thank you for trusting us with your children.

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this 2021-2022 school year. I'm a mother of two adult children. I enjoy interior decorating, traveling, learning, and spending time with family. I am a graduate of Cambridge College where is received a Master's Degree in Education and a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management. I am no stranger in the field of education. This is my 17th year in education and my 7th year teaching at Glenn Hills High School. I've taught math, science, Social studies and Literature, and currently serving as the Department Chair of Special Education here. I love teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies because ELA allows children to express their written and linguistic talents and Social Studies allows students to learn about the importance of History, Government, Economics, and Geography, as well as understanding current events, and cultures.

I care deeply about each of my students and I believe students can grow and develop by collaborating and exploring. I have high expectations of all my students and I share two beliefs which are, there isn't anything students cannot accomplish and achieve if they maintain a positive attitude towards learning, and remember that success is achieved by deciding and making a commitment to towards learning. I understand that last year students were introduced to a new platform of learning; however, I expect my students to be ready to engage, explore, explain, and collaborate through our face to face learning and being reintroduced to the Canvas platform.

    Class schedule:

    1st period: U.S. History

    2nd period: Economics

    3rd period: World History

    5th period: American Government

    7th period: Economics

My main goal is to insure my students understand the skills and concepts within these subjects and not allow anyone or entity to distract them.

My tutoring hours are on Monday’s and Tuesday’s from 2:30-3:30pm but is subject to change depending on the needs of my students. Also note if there are any comments, questions, or concerns, I am available for phone calls during my office hours from 2:30 p.m.-2:55pm Additional information about my classes are in the syllabus which can be assess on my Teachers class page. Please read the syllabus and sign the detachable portion on the bottom last page to indicate your understanding and support of the classroom system. There is also space provided for you to express any questions, concerns, or comments. Students should return that portion to me or send the signed copy back via email. To schedule a meeting, you may contact me via marinda@richmond.k12.ga.us or 706-796-4924.
