• Welcome to Diamond Lakes Elementary School.  What a pleasure it is to have the opportunity to educate your child this school year!  Let me begin by introducing myself.  My name is Kesha Chivers (pronounced like shivers).  I taught 2nd grade at Diamond Lakes Elementary for 10 years and 3rd grade in Burke County for 6 years.  I have also taught 1st grade at Diamond Lakes.  This is my second year being a Special's teacher, where I see all of the students in the school at least once a week for 45 minutes.  I teach them writing and we incorporate STEAM activities.  This is my 19th year teaching and I love it!

I believe that a good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort between parent, child, and teacher.  My expectations for conduct and standards for academic growth are high.  With your participation, we can look forward to a productive, creative and fun year together!

My philosophy of education is very simple.  I believe...

    • children should be active participants in the learning process.
    • teaching is a lifelong process; thus, it is necessary to constantly explore new teaching strategies and concepts.
    • parental involvement is essential for a child’s total educational development.
    • learning should be fun, exciting, and stimulating.

I have planned many challenging and exciting activities that are designed to provide optimum educational experiences in our classroom!
