MLK Toiletry Drive
For the ninth year in a row, United Way of the CSRA and their AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America) will be spearheading the 2019 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Project. We encourage the community to participate in this service project by collecting hygiene products to be placed in our MLK Donation Box. Proceeds will go to help homeless individuals and families, seniors in the Senior Food Box Program, and Richmond County School students experiencing the effects of poverty. With your help, this year’s goal is to provide emergency hygiene kits to at least 2,000 households in Richmond County that often go without the basic hygiene necessities most of us take for granted. It is our hope that we will be able to help those struggling and give them a greater sense of self and a brighter outlook on life during trying times in their lives.
Below is a sample of hygiene necessities needed for our school’s MLK Donation Box:
* Disposable razor
* Hand sanitizer
* Feminine hygiene products, such as sanitary napkins
* Zip lock baggies – quart size and gallon size
* Other items, such as lip balm, petroleum jelly, baby wipes, baby powder, diapers, etc. also appreciated
