GAA 2.0

Georgia Alternate Assessment (GAA) is an alternative assessment based on alternative achievement standards for students with significant cognitive diabilities identified and served in accordance with the individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and whose IEP team has determined the students are unable to reasonably participate in the regular assessments program. 

 

Who Takes It?

For students with disabilities, the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team determines how the student shall participate in Georgia's student assessment program. If a student's IEP team determines that a student cannot meaningfully access the Georgia Milestone Assessment System, even with maximum appropriate accommodations, then the student must participate in the GAA 2.0

 

Students in Grades K, 3-8, and 11 will be assessed in English and Language Arts and Mathematics.

Students in Grades 5, 8, and 11 will also be assessed in Science and Social Studies.

 

When/how frequently is it taken?

March - May 

 

How is it administered?

Paper/pencil administration
