Library Media Specialist of the Year
The Library Media Specialist of the Year recognizes an outstanding school library media specialist who demonstrates excellence in leadership, collaboration, innovation, and instructional support. This individual fosters a love of reading and lifelong learning, partners with teachers to enhance student achievement, effectively manages library resources, and creates an engaging, inclusive learning environment that positively impacts the entire school community.
Nomination and Award Criteria
1. The applicant must have 3 or more years of experience as a certified library media specialist at a Richmond County School.
2. The Media Specialist must work full-time for the Richmond County School System.
3. The Media Specialist must be a member of GLMA or GAIT to be nominated for the State Media Specialist Award.
4. The Media Specialist must exhibit outstanding attributes of school librarianship, including empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
