High School Programming & Workforce Development

Welcome to the High School Programming & Workforce Development Department!

I’m Dr. Stacey Mabray, and it is my privilege to serve the students, families, and schools of Richmond County. With over 30 years in education—as a teacher, principal, and district leader—my passion has remained the same: ensuring every student has access to meaningful pathways that prepare them for life beyond graduation.

Across my career—from raising graduation rates to implementing whole-child systems of support, from developing leadership training to championing adult learners—I have learned one truth: when we create environments that honor students’ potential, they rise.

Our department is committed to strengthening academic programming, expanding career and technical education, supporting dual enrollment, and building workforce partnerships that open doors for all learners. Each initiative we lead reflects our district mission of “Empowering Every Learner Every Day.” Together, we are creating high-quality, future-focused opportunities that help students discover their purpose and reach their full potential.

As we look forward, I am inspired by my favorite guiding words: “We can talk and dream of the glorious schools of the future OR WE can create them.”

Here, in Richmond County, we choose to create them—together.

Stacey Mabray

High School Programming and Workforce Department

Dr. Stacey Mabray is a dedicated educator and leader with over 32 years of service in the Richmond County School System in Augusta, Georgia. A proud graduate of South Carolina State University (Class of 1992), she went on to earn both her Master’s and Specialist’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration from Augusta State University. In 2012, she completed her Doctorate in Curriculum Studies at Georgia Southern University.

While at South Carolina State, Dr. Mabray became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she has remained an active and committed leader. Her service includes roles such as Southern Region Chair of the Leadership Academy, Co-Chair of the Grow with Google Black Women Lead Initiative, and National Master Trainer—demonstrating her passion for empowering others through education and leadership development.

Dr. Mabray’s professional journey reflects a deep commitment to student achievement and equity. She began her career as a high school science teacher, serving for 10 years before transitioning into district leadership as the K–12 Science Curriculum Coordinator for six years. She later served as Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction for four years and spent eight transformative years as Principal of George P. Butler High School. Under her leadership, Butler High experienced a dramatic shift in school culture and academic performance, with the graduation rate rising from 34% in 2014 to 80%, driven by initiatives like AVID and a focus on climate and culture inspired by Principal Kafele’s “Mood & Lifestyle” framework.

In July 2022, Dr. Mabray was appointed MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Coordinator, where she championed a whole-child approach to education—addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs to ensure equitable access for all students. In July 2025, she assumed her current role as Director of High School Programming and Workforce Development, where she leads efforts to align CTAE, dual enrollment, master scheduling, and workforce initiatives across all Richmond County high schools. This role reflects both her purpose and passion: designing and implementing high-quality, future-focused programs that prepare students for success beyond graduation.

In addition to her work in K–12 education, Dr. Mabray serves as a part-time Adult Education Instructor at Augusta Technical College, where she helps adult learners earn their high school equivalency credentials. In March 2025, she was honored as Georgia’s Outstanding Adult Educator of the Year by the Technical College System of Georgia. As a statewide ambassador, she will have the opportunity to present to TCSG college presidents, elected officials, and members of the Georgia General Assembly on the transformative power of adult education.

Dr. Mabray believes that every individual is created on purpose and with purpose. Her mission is to fulfill her God-appointed destiny by serving others through education. She draws inspiration from the words of President Barack Obama:

“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition… Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”

Grateful for a career that has brought her immense joy and fulfillment, Dr. Mabray uses the hashtag #LoveSupreme to express her unwavering commitment to students, families, and the power of education.
