School Climate is an integral component of Richmond County School System's GaMTSS framework and supports the district's commitment to educating the whole child. Through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), attendance initiatives, social-emotional and behavioral supports, family and community partnerships, and other proactive practices, schools are equipped to create safe, supportive, and engaging learning environments.

The Five Components of School Climate & Behavioral Supports

Under the GaMTSS framework, five key components work together to build and sustain positive school climates, strengthen behavioral supports, and improve outcomes for students and staff.

Infrastructure

Establishes the systems, resources, professional learning, and supports needed to create safe, predictable, and positive learning environments.

Teaming

Brings educators and stakeholders together to collaborate, problem-solve, and coordinate efforts that support positive student behavior and school culture.

Multi-Level Prevention

Provides a continuum of behavioral and wellbeing supports that promote success for all students while offering additional assistance when needed.

Evaluation

Uses implementation and outcome data to monitor progress, measure impact, and guide continuous improvement efforts.

Data-Based Decision Making

Analyzes behavioral, climate, and wellbeing data to identify needs, prioritize actions, and improve student outcomes.
