Device Cost and Insurance

The Richmond County School System (RCSS) is committed to providing students with access to technology that supports learning both in the classroom and at home. Each student-issued device represents a significant investment by the district and is an important educational tool.

To help protect this investment, RCSS offers an optional device protection plan that helps reduce the financial responsibility for accidental damage. Families who choose to participate in the insurance program may receive reduced repair or replacement costs for covered incidents, subject to the terms and conditions of the plan. Damage resulting from intentional misuse, negligence, loss, or theft may not be covered and could result in additional fees.

Students and families are responsible for taking proper care of all district-issued technology. Devices should be kept in their protective case, handled with care, and used in accordance with the RCSS Acceptable Use Policy. Charges for repairs or replacement may apply when devices are damaged beyond normal wear and tear, lost, or not returned.
