Sue Reynolds' 4th Grade STEM Class Wins!

Jordan Price, Jonathan Ross, Amari Bonner, and Ashlynn Boseman from Mrs. Carter's 4th grade class participated in the STEM Challenge on February 21st. It was hosted by the Academy of Richmond County and 11 schools competed. The competition consisted of three engineering challenges where students had to use every day materials to create new structures that served different purposes.  Congratulations to Sue Reynolds, the students and Mrs. Carter...Way to Go!!!

The Lucy C. Laney boys’ basketball team’s third round play-off game has been rescheduled. The game will be played on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at East Hall High School in Gainesville, Georgia. Start time has been changed to 6:00 p.m. The school’s address is 3534 East Hall Road, Gainesville, GA 30507.  The team will be leaving Augusta from the Norman Bonner Complex at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Freedom Park School  will welcome spring by participating in Georgia Walk to School Day on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.  Approximately 600 students and their families, along with soldiers from the 15th Signal Brigade will start walking to school at 7:30 a.m., with walking school buses arriving at school by 7:50 a.m.   Once at school, the will be greeted by the Garrison Commander.


On Friday, February 13, 2015 students were devoted to stopping cardiovascular disease and stroke. Copeland Elementary students raised $1,525.50 for Jump-Rope for Heart. Coach Bethany O'Brien led the effort to build healthier lives through this service learning project with the American Heart Association. Way to go Copeland!

Lindsay Wallace and team mate Kennedy Smith represented Davidson Fine Arts and Richmond County at the Georgia High School State Swim Meet in Atlanta last weekend.

Lindsay Wallace, a junior from Davidson Fine Arts, earned a Bronze medal in the 100 yard freestyle at the Georgia High School State Swim Meet.  Lindsay is the first swimmer from Davidson and Richmond County to place in the top three at a state meet.  She also came in 6th place in the 100 yard backstroke.  Congratulations Lindsay!!!

RCSS receives Full Accreditation from SACS/AdvancED Commission

The Richmond County School District has regained its accreditation in completing the required actions by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) according to a recent report by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission.
