Evening Class Monday – Friday  

CTAE HUB - 11:45pm until 1:45pm 

 The goal of this course is to introduce students to the history and traditions of the carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical craft trades. The student will know how to care and safely use hand and power tools as related to each trade. Students will be able to understand blueprints related to each individual craft area.  Students are introduced to the construction areas of carpentry, masonry, residential and commercial wiring, and residential plumbing.  Students will complete all core curriculum modules to receive their NCCER Core Curriculum Certificate, and Level I NCCER Certificate in Electrical. . Students will be asked to compete in Skillsusa competitions.

Daily routine and requirements: 

Be on time!  

• Students must come to school and class on time.  
• Students are not allowed to go to the restroom until 15 minutes after class starts.  

Be prepared!  

• Bring a working laptop every day 
• All class work is embedded in CANVAS and look for assignments daily on CANVAS. 
• Work shoes are required (Does not have to be steel toe, can be composite toe) 

Work pants, Tee shirt, long sleeve, or short sleeve shirts are required or protective suit. Students will receive (Major Grade) 100 points each week for adhering to the dress code. If a student fails to comply with the dress code, 10 points will be deducted per day. After the third offense, parents will be contacted 

• The Richmond County School System dress code must be followed daily. Students will receive (Major Grade) 100 points each week for adhering to the dress code. If a student fails to comply with the dress code, 10 points will be deducted per day. After the third offense, parents will be contacted 

Be respectful!  

• No one walks out of class without getting permission
• Always put tools up when finished 
• Do not talk while someone else is talking.   
• Sleeping and putting your head on the desk is strongly discouraged.  
• Students must learn to work and communicate with other students. 

Be safe!  

• Wear proper Personal, Protective, Equipment, (PPE). Students will receive (Major Grade) 100 points each week for adhering to safety. If a student fails to comply with safety, 10 points will be deducted per day. After the third offense, parents will be contacted 

• ‘Clean up behind yourself’ The goal of good housekeeping is eliminating accidents or incidents from happening.  
• Electrical and HVACR training can be very dangerous, so students must always be on their best behavior. 

Cell Phones!  

• Cell phones, Earbuds, Portable Gaming Systems and Smartwatches. Keep them in a bookbag and off. 
• No charging personal devices in Marion E. Barnes Career Center

DRESS and GROOMING POLICY CONSEQUENCES FOR POLICY VIOLATIONS 

Students who fail to follow the mandatory Rule 14 of the Code of Student Conduct and Discipline or to follow reasonable directions given by authorized school personnel in connection therewith shall be subject to the following disciplinary actions: 

 First Offense: The principal or designee will communicate the dress code policy to the parent or guardian and the student. The student will receive a dress code violation warning.  

Second Offense: 1 Hour Detention  

Third Offense: 1 Day In-School Suspension 

Fourth Offense: Three Days In-School Suspension 

Rule 16 [State 33, 34, 40] Cell Phones and Electronic Communication Devices Policy 

DISCIPLINE: Due to the potential disruption a cell phone and electronic communication devices may cause to the instructional environment and safety of the school, the disciplinary actions and consequences for violation of this rule are as follows:  

First Offense: The first offense will result in the electronic device being confiscated, to be picked up by the student or parent at the end of the same school day. The incident will be recorded in the student’s discipline record within the student database (e.g., Infinite Campus). 

Second Offense: The second offense will result in the electronic device being confiscated, to be picked up by the parent on the Friday following confiscation, at the specific time designated by the school. The incident will be recorded in the student’s discipline record within the student database (e.g., Infinite Campus). 

Third Offense: The third offense will result in the electronic device being confiscated, to be picked up by the parent on the Friday following confiscation, at the specific time designated by the school. The student will receive one day of in-school suspension (ISS). The incident will be recorded in the student’s discipline record within the student database (e.g., Infinite Campus).  

Fourth Offense: The fourth offense and thereafter will result in the electronic device being confiscated for ten (10) school days, and the parent must schedule a conference with an administrator to retrieve the electronic device. The student will receive three days of in-school suspension (ISS). The incident will be recorded in the student’s discipline record within the student database (e.g., Infinite Campus). Further incidents may result in the student losing the privilege of bringing electronic devices on campus, in-school suspension, out of school suspension, and any other forms of discipline deemed appropriate under the circumstances. Noncompliance: All administrators, teachers and/or staff members are authorized to confiscate cell phones, electronic communication devices and/or accessories any time a student is in violation of the Cell Phone/Electronic Communications Device policy. A student’s refusal to surrender his/her electronic device(s) to school personnel will be considered noncompliance and insubordination, resulting in two (2) days of out of school suspension, and any other forms of discipline deemed appropriate under the circumstances.
