My name is Shaunta Payton and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Willis Foreman Elementary School. Over the past 18 years, I have worked as a Teacher, Math Specialist, Adult Educator, Instructional Support Specialist, Professional Learning Liaison and Assistant Principal. My experience spans over two states and two countries. However, I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I am humbled and most appreciative for the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this educational family.
As the instructional leader of Willis Foreman Elementary School, I enthusiastically embrace the task of continuing to utilize fiscal, human, and material resources at my disposal to ensure that students are prepared with the necessary tools to be productive citizens as we work towards College and Career Readiness. I realize that differentiated, rigorous, and relevant instruction that meets the needs of each student will be the vehicle to students’ success as they work towards proficiency in all core areas - English/Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
A safe and orderly environment will be the order of each Willis Foreman Elementary School day. A team approach most definitely is necessary to create and maintain that desired learning environment. I believe that students who come to school, complete classwork & homework daily, and minimize misbehaviors will have the best chance at achievement. We will promote a high level of expectations and personalization in every aspect of our student’s school experience.
Embracing a collaborative school culture which includes teachers, administration, staff, parents, students, and all community partners will be the norm. One of the most important aspects of my work here at Willis Foreman Elementary School will be building strong relationships with all stakeholders. My passion has been and always will be educating students. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with teachers to make sure our students are exposed to curriculum and instruction that is both engaging and challenging. I have an open door policy and welcome your input and ideas. I’m looking forward to meeting each of you as we start this new and exciting year together!
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I will be working most days this summer to ensure a smooth transition and opening in August. Please stop by to say hello. I look forward to meeting you soon!
