Ms. D. R. Crockett
Welcome to the Performance Learning Center! I am absolutely delighted to extend a heartfelt and wholehearted welcome as you embark on this thrilling chapter of your educational journey. It's truly an honor to have you become a part of our school community, and we're brimming with anticipation to witness all the remarkable achievements you will undoubtedly accomplish during your time here.
As for myself, I've had the incredible privilege of being an educator at PLC for four enriching years. Prior to that, I had the distinct honor of teaching and serving as the Department Chair at Hephzibah HS for an impressive 19 years. My journey in education also includes a year of teaching second grade at Jamestown Elementary and two years at Dugway HS in the picturesque town of Dugway, Utah.
I hail from Long Island, New York, where I was born and raised. My parents decided to retire to Augusta during my junior year in high school, which fortuitously allowed me to graduate as a senior thanks to the credits I had already earned. I've also had the unique experience of being a military spouse, and I am blessed with one son, my pride and joy, Patrick, who is currently pursuing graduate studies in North Carolina. Our family also includes a beloved fur baby named Bentley Maybach.
I have studied at Augusta University, University of North Carolina/Johnson C. Smith University, Cornell University and the University of Utah. I have worked in corporate America as a Training Safety Coordinator, for which I was responsible for plant safety and OSHA guidelines were followed. This job afforded me to travel to different parts of America to train other workers.
Personally, I have a profound love for travel and indulging in retail therapy, and I find that my faith serves as the unwavering center of everything I am and everything I do. In the classroom, I approach my role as an educator as though each and every student bore my own last name. I wholeheartedly believe in the boundless potential of my students, and I dedicate myself tirelessly to ensure that they recognize the greatness that resides within them.
