Sherry Cofield
Hello! My name is Sherry Cofield and this is my second year in Georgia. I have five years of experience in Special Education and many more years in the General Education (private school) setting. I am happy and excited to join the Richmond Hill Elementary School family supporting students in grades 4 and 5 with their English Language Arts and Math studies. I am looking forward to working with the students here and assisting them in meeting their academic goals.
It is my firm belief that every child can and will learn. Every child possesses a gift or treasure unique to that child. It is my job to get to know and attend to the whole child so that I can help unlock that gift or treasure. My experiences have made clear the importance of teaching with the whole-child approach. This includes getting to know the parent and child. Research shows a strong correlation between parent involvement and student achievement. This information further emphasizes the importance of partnering with the parent(s) and working together toward guiding the child to achieve their goals. I believe in early and ongoing communication focused on identifying what things can be done to foster your child’s progress in meeting his or her academic goals. One important thing you can do is to let your child know that you and I both have high expectations for them and that we expect them to arrive at school with a positive mindset and ready to learn.
I welcome communication if you have questions, suggestions, or concerns. I can be reached through Class Dojo, phone, or email. I look forward to working with you and your student!
