Mrs. Cherre Nielsen

Greetings ESOL Families!   Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!

My name is Mrs. Nielsen, and I will be instructing your English language learners at the new Richmond Hill Elementary and Jamestown Elementary for this upcoming school year.

I firmly believe that student success is built upon the connections between the families and teacher, so I would like to begin by letting you know more about my family and I.  My husband and I are both from the state of Iowa, but have come to love the South after residing for many years in Tennessee.  As this area is very similar, we are enjoying living here in the Evans area, where my husband .  We have two adult children, a son who serves in the United States Air Force in Virginia, and  a daughter who is a veterinarian practicing in North Carolina.  Since our favorite activity is saltwater fishing, we are all lucky to be in areas closer to the coast!

Professionally, I have been teaching for 27 years in various states, including experiences in special education, reading intervention, grades 3 and 4 general education, and ESOL.  I am especially interested in integrating the content areas of math, science, and social studies into language instruction, as it is just as important for English language learners to experience success in these areas as it is for progress in language.

I am looking forward to this upcoming year with your language learning scholars, and want you to contact me about your students' progress or other concerns/questions.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cherre Nielsen, ESOL Teacher
