My name is Jabal M. Moss, and I am thrilled to be teaching Enhanced Algebra and Math 8 this school year. I am excited to be a member of the village dedicated to providing your child with a high-quality education. Together, we will focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to transform students into successful learners. Success at RHMS is our collective imperative!

8th grade is a year of transformation and growth. In my classroom, we will explore mathematics in engaging and innovative ways. Gone are the days of boring lectures and PowerPoints. Instead, students will:

• Share their thinking and voice their ideas.
• Engage with real-world scenarios.
• Participate in scavenger hunts, task card sorts, and jigsaw activities.
• Conduct research to enhance their mathematical understanding.

Student voice and ownership are at the forefront of our learning journey! We will focus on mathematical modeling, statistical reasoning, interdisciplinary connections, and mathematical practices. Students will engage in mathematical discourse, work hard in collaborative pairs, and learn from their mistakes because MISTAKES show that learning is happening!

To ensure students master our standards and learning objectives, I will make data-driven decisions based on:

• i-Ready Diagnostic Assessments
• Content Mastery Assessments
• Formative and Summative Assessments
• The state-wide Georgia Milestone Assessment

These assessments help me tailor instruction to ensure your child is growing in mathematics.

On a personal note, I am a native of Augusta, Georgia, and a proud graduate of the Richmond County School System. I graduated from Cross Creek High School in 2009 and furthered my education at Paine College, Georgia Southern University, and Webster University. I have six years of experience teaching and promoting diversity and student success at the collegiate level, working at institutions such as Georgia Southern University, Bethune-Cookman University, Tennessee State University, and Wittenberg University. This is my fifth year with the Richmond County School System, having previously served three years at Richmond Hill K8 and one year between Hephzibah and Tutt Middle Schools. I am excited about continuing my journey at the new Richmond Hill Middle School.

I look forward to a collaborative and supportive relationship between parents, students, and community stakeholders to make this a remarkable year of learning at RHMS!
