Welcome to the Fifth grade! This year, your child will be departmentalizing, therefore they will have three teachers for their core subjects. They will switch classes for ELA, Math, and Science/Social Studies, each day. Hello, I am Mrs. Willingham and I am part of the fabulous 5th grade Dream Team. I am honored and excited to teach your child in the areas of Science and Social Studies. My teaching experience consists of teaching 2nd, 4th, and now 5th grade. I began my undergraduate education at Waldorf University and completed my Master’s degree from Columbia Southern University. I want to take this opportunity to overview some expectations we have for our students and families. From students, we expect everyone to help contribute to positive classroom culture. Positive classroom culture is where we speak and listen respectfully, maintain a growth mindset, arrive prepared to work and learn and take care of our campus and materials. We expect students to follow the dress code and guidelines of our school handbook, and to show every adult at school the same respect they show their classroom teachers. From our parents, I ask for your patience and support as much as you can offer it. I’m entirely committed to the success of every child. I look forward to introducing and implementing many wonderful and worthwhile projects this and creating an enjoyable learning environment that will ensure your child’s academic success.
