WELCOME TO 4TH GRADE!
We are excited about the new school year and hope that you are too. It is our hope that this will be an awesome and fantastic year for you, your child, and us. We have looked forward all summer to working with your child and are ready for the task of preparing them for the Georgia Milestones Test and fifth grade. Although we all may face challenges throughout the year, we are here to make it as successful as possible! Below are a few things that we would like to share with you:
- Parent/Teacher Relationships are Necessary! It is absolutely necessary for us to have a relationship with you. We need you to assist students with homework, encourage them to do their best, ensure they are studying each and every week, and remind your child about the proper behavior that should be displayed at school each day. Please feel free to contact us about student progress, any problem or challenge that may come up, and update any contact information as it may change throughout the year. We must have a working phone number or a way to get in contact with you at all times. Always check for teacher letters and reports.
- Homework! Homework will be given each and every night, Monday-Thursday. Please ask your child to share and show their homework to you. It will also be available via each teacher’s webpage and class messenger. We ask that you make sure that your child is completing their homework every night. This is an important part of learning and should be taken seriously. Your child should write their homework down on a daily basis! Be sure to initial their homework daily with a pen.
- Georgia Milestones Testing! The Georgia Milestones Test is very important. Each 4th grader must pass or meet state requirements in content areas. If you know that your child struggles in one or both of these areas, please work with them and keep in constant contact with your child’s teacher to ensure success throughout the year and on the test.
- Behavior! We will be following the Richmond County Code of Conduct. Conduct grades will be given weekly. If your child breaks the rules (refer to student handbook online), we will call, send a note, and/or conference with you. The same will apply for their grades. However, we encourage our parents to use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal located at rcboe.org.
We look forward to meeting each and every one of you over the course of the school year. Please do not hesitate to call one of us or schedule a time to visit our classrooms. We hope that this year will be a great experience for you and your child. If there are any questions or concerns, each teacher can be reached via the school at (706) 771-2881. Thank you for your time and cooperation.
