Greetings Wheeless Road Elementary Family!
My name is Jennifer McKinney-Evans and it is my pleasure to serve as your Assistant Principal this school year. This school year we have two Assistant Principals and we have divided the grade levels we serve by semester. The first semester I will work with grades (3rd-5th) and the second semester I will work with grades (K-2nd). I also will be working with the Pre-K as the building level Site Director for the 2023-24 SY.
I am a native of Long Island, New York. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (Pre-k -5th) from Augusta State University. In addition, I have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, and consider myself a life-long learner. I also hold several educational endorsements and certifications, including STEM, On-line Teaching, Math endorsed, and Tier 2 Leadership Certification (P-12).
I have had the opportunity to teach Pre-K, 2nd grade, 5th grade and Middle School students in the Burke County School System. In addition, I served as an Instructional Specialist in the Richmond County School System and worked at several schools within the system including Bayvale, Barton Chapel, Willis Foreman, Wheeless Road and Terrace Manor. Prior to returning back as an Assistant Principal to Wheeless Road, I served as an AP at Tobacco Road Elementary.
When I’m not at WRES you can find me traveling, shopping, spending time with my family, reading, binging a series on Netflix, or looking to explore something new. I am married to my loving husband James Evans, and no not the one from “Good Times”! I have three young men Justin, Jordon and Jaylen who I am very proud of, as they were products of the Richmond County School System.
As a lifelong learner, my hope is that my efforts will inspire every student at WRES to “Buzz to Excellence”. Here at WRES, “Home of the Bumblebees,” I will work hard to ensure that all students achieve academic achievement and are prepared for global competitiveness by promoting educational excellence and values needed in order to be productive citizens. We thank you for entrusting us with your child. If you have any questions or need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to serve you!
Let’s have a fantastic school year!
Jennifer Mckinney-Evans, Ed.S
