Mr. Thrift

I began my career as an educator in the fall of 2002, working as a full-time substitute teacher while pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Metter, GA. Metter, or Candler County Schools, was the same school I attended from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I was fortunate to work alongside many teachers who had taught me and had been colleagues of my mother, a 40-year veteran teacher.

I have worked in public, private, and magnet schools in Georgia and North Carolina. Throughout my career, I have been teaching science, my lifelong passion. I was introduced to farming and the science of how things work at a young age, and I have been fascinated by it ever since.

During my time in North Carolina, I was a science olympiad coach and led teams to participate at both State and National levels. I plan to bring this experience to Belair in the upcoming year to show how science extends beyond just a class we take to the world around us.

Higher education was strongly encouraged in my family. I pursued my AS in Funeral Services at Ogeechee Technical College, my AA in General Studies, and my BS in Middle School Science and Social Science with a minor in communications at Brewton-Parker College. I completed the Queen's University of Charlotte School Executive Leadership Academy. I am pursuing my Master's in Media, Technology, and Design at the University of West Georgia. While in Charlotte, I also became a licensed IB (International Baccalaureate) teacher and administrator.

Additionally, I have been driving commercial vehicles for the past 12 years and enjoy being a part of the transportation team. Occasionally, You may spot me on the bus, especially during sports events.
