Ms. Marquita Burns – 8th Grade Educator
Welcome! I’m Ms. Marquita Burns, and I’m honored to be part of the team here at Belair Middle School, teaching 8th grade. I bring over 17 years of experience working with youth and families, including 10 years as a social worker for the State of Georgia and the past 7 years as a middle school educator. My unique background allows me to support students academically, socially, and emotionally — helping them grow into confident, capable learners and leaders.
I believe that education is not just about learning facts, but about building character, community, and self-awareness. I strive to create a classroom environment where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to reach their potential. My teaching style emphasizes respect, responsibility, and real-world relevance — and I’m committed to helping students understand not just what they’re learning, but why it matters.
Outside the classroom, I love traveling, creating meaningful content, and spending time with my family. I'm a lifelong learner myself and believe in modeling curiosity, compassion, and courage in everything I do.
I’m excited about the journey ahead and look forward to partnering with families to ensure this is a successful and memorable year for our students!
