Ms. Amos' Classroom Laptop Policy
Purpose: To ensure that students are able to effectively use laptops for educational purposes both at home and in the classroom.
1. General Guidelines
- Daily Usage: Students are required to bring their laptops to class every day, fully charged and ready for use.
- Responsibility: Each student is responsible for the care and maintenance of their own laptop.
2. Charging
- Home Charging: Laptops must be charged overnight at home to ensure they are ready for a full day of use.
- Classroom Charging: Limited charging facilities are available in the classroom. Students should not rely on these and must ensure laptops are charged at home.
3. Transport
- Protective Case: Laptops must be transported in a protective case to prevent damage.
- Handling: Laptops should be handled with care at all times to avoid damage.
4. Usage in Class
- Academic Use: Laptops are to be used for academic purposes only during class time.
- Distractions: Non-educational activities, such as gaming or social media, are prohibited during class.
5. Consequences for Non-Compliance
- First Offense: Warning and reminder of the policy.
- Second Offense: Meeting with the student to discuss the issue and possible consequences.
- Third Offense: Parent/guardian notification and potential restrictions on laptop usage.
6. Insurance and Liability
- Insurance: Students and parents are encouraged to consider insurance to cover potential damage or theft.
- Liability: Students and their families are responsible for the care and maintenance of the laptop. The school is not liable for any damage or loss.
