Dear Parents,
I would like to first welcome you and your child to Blythe Elementary School. It is my goal that your child will grow and mature intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
My name is Mrs. Hurley, and I am your child’s first grade teacher. I teach Reading, Math, Language Arts, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. I am asking for your support and cooperation throughout the school year as well. I believe in appropriate discipline, fairness, respect for others, and good communication. My goal is to give your child the best possible education.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, do not hesitate to contact me on Class Dojo. I am here for you as well as your child.
Thank you again for all that you do to help your precious little ones succeed. They are truly a blessing and gift.
My Expectations
Students need to try their best.
Homework Policy
The homework assignment for the week should go home on Mondays in the take-home folder. All homework is due by Friday. Homework can be turned in early. No homework is given on the weekends.
Classroom Rules and Discipline Plan
I will be using a conduct grade sheet this year. At the beginning of each week, your child’s conduct grade will be 100. If no rules are broken, your child will be given a 100 at the end of the week. If conduct rules are broken, your child's grade will go down.
Here are our classroom rules:
- Stay on task.
- Raise your hand to speak out.
- Behave outside the classroom.
- Follow directions.
- Respect others/school property.
- Stay seated.
- Return behavior report.
- Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.
Take Home Folders
A take-home folder should go home and be returned to me every single day. If any parent notes or medical excuses need to come in, please send them to me in the take-home folder. Completed schoolwork should go home on Fridays. Please keep this work at home and continue to review it with your child.
I know that this information that I have given to you and your child may seem a little overwhelming at this point. Once we get into a routine, I hope that it will make sense. I will inform you of any changes that need to be made. If you have any questions or concerns, PLEASE do not hesitate to email me.
I am so excited that your child is in my class this year and I look forward to working with YOU!!!
I welcome you and your child to my class, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with him/her. Let’s have a GREAT year!!!
Sincerely,
Anna Hurley
