Welcome to W.S. Hornsby Middle School's Counseling Department! We are excited you are here. Here at W.S. Hornsby, we believe a school counselor's job is to support ALL students academically, socially, emotionally, developmentally, and in career/college goals. At Hornsby Middle School, we aim to help students manage their emotions, life challenges, and to develop positive coping skills. We also want to see our students succeed in class as well. The Counseling Department strives to provide a positive, nurturing, and safe learning environment for all students to achieve to their fullest potential. Our department continues to provide students with academic support, personal guidance, and opportunities during this time of rapid growth and change, better known as adolescence. Dr. Johnson, Dr. Hooker, and Ms. Dunn aim to offer personal and developmentally appropriate care for students as they face unique and diverse challenges during their middle school experience. In addition to continuous academic support, we facilitate an open-door policy for students' needs and a robust student assistance program. Hornsby Middle school counselors consult and collaborate with school staff, parents, mental health providers, and community service organizations/programs regularly in the best interest of all students. We are looking forward to a great school year. Together, we will excel in, Making the good GREAT! EVERY student, EVERYDAY!
