    Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to an exciting new school year! My name is Ms. Wright, and I am thrilled to be your 6th-grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make this year successful and enjoyable.

    About Me

I have been teaching for 11 years, and I am passionate about helping students discover the joy of reading and writing. In our classroom, we will explore a variety of literary genres and contemporary stories and work on honing our writing skills through creative projects and structured essays. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel valued and motivated to do their best.

    What to Expect

In 6th grade ELA, we will cover a wide range of topics, including:

    • Reading Comprehension: Developing strategies to understand and analyze texts.
    • Writing: Learning to write clearly and effectively in various formats.
    • Grammar and Vocabulary: Building a strong foundation in English language conventions.
    • Literature: Exploring diverse authors and genres to broaden our understanding of the world.

    Classroom Expectations

Our classroom will be a place of respect, curiosity, and hard work. Here are a few expectations to help us create a positive learning environment:

    • Be Respectful: Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
    • Be Responsible: Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
    • Be Engaged: Participate actively in class discussions and activities.
    • Be Honest: Always do your best and be honest in your work.

    Communication

I believe that open communication between home and school is vital for your child’s success. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. You can contact me via email at WrighAl@boe.richmond.k12.ga.us or call the school at (706) 823-6960.

    Get Involved

Parents, your involvement in your child's education is incredibly valuable. I encourage you to stay connected by attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering in the school, and supporting your child's learning at home.

I am excited to embark on this journey with you and your child. Together, we will make this a memorable and successful year. Let’s inspire a love for reading and writing and achieve great things in 6th grade ELA!

    Welcome aboard!

    Warm regards,
