Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As we all enter this new territory of Distance Learning, I want to assure you that the rest of the string teachers and I are doing our best to continue providing content and resources for you to continue your orchestra education. In the Distance Learning section, as well as below, you will find numerous links for self guided theory assignments, practice, reading, and writing in order to maintain your music education at home. A good number of my students do not have home instruments on which to practice, however you will find that there are plenty of resources regardless of your instrument situation. Please email me for any questions regarding assignments, practice charts, recordings, and webpages. You may reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SIDE NOTE: While it is true that all after school concerts and rehearsals are cancelled until further notice, we have every intention of helping you to maintain your musical abilities. The goal of learning music is not the concert. It is to maintain involvement in the arts, your development as a student and human, and to discover that which makes us human. We are creative beings, not robots. So if you ask "why are we doing this if there is no concert?" There was your answer. We are doing it because it is important.
For up to date assignments, please see the side bar to find your appropriate Distance Learning page. General review links may be found below.

This class is part of the Richmond County Orchestra program, also referred to as the RCO. The RCO has been an active part of the Richmond County Fine Arts curriculum since the 1970's, providing music education to thousands of students throughout the county.
We have six orchestras, spanning from 4th to 12th grades. The middle school level consists of two orchestras: Prelude (intermediate level) and Filarmonico (advanced). This year, auditions will be held on the night of Monday, September 30th. They will take place at the RCO headquarters in the Tubman Education Center, on Walton Way. Please refer to your child's audition sheet for more details or feel free to contact your child's orchestra teacher.
Orchestra classes at Murphey will begin this August, during the week of the 26th. Students wishing to continue orchestra this year will need to be sure to be prepared with supplies and materials, such as instrument, bow, cleaning cloths, and rosin! A full list of supplies will be provided on the syllabus.
Please check back here regularly for any announcements, and also be sure to check your child's orchestra folder as all information will be sent home as well.
Looking forward to a great year! Please contact me at any time!Mr. Connolly
