Now is the time to make sure you are registered for orchestra class!
As you know, signing up for orchestra is something we have to do in order to ensure your spot. So, to make this process easier, here are two buttons to help you register and request an instrument.
Registering for orchestra here will help ensure that I can help you get registered officially for the class. And requesting an instrument will put you in the queue for using a free county owned instrument. There are limited instruments available, and it is strongly encouraged that you get your own. If you already have an instrument, you do not need to worry about requesting an instrument. If you do not have an instrument, please consider getting one ONLY from one of the local music stores.
**Special note: buying instruments online for cheap are 100% not in your interest because those are just expensive toys. They are not state approved models, they do not stay in tune, and to be bLunt, they are not "real" instruments. Unfortunately, in the musical instrument world, you genuinely get what you pay for. If renting an instrument from the local music stores is not an option at the moment, then you may request a county instrument. Preference is given first to known orchestra members, followed by first come first serve; using a county instrument means having to follow the rules of all-county orchestra, which includes all-county participation.**

This class is part of the Richmond County Orchestra program, also referred to as the RCO. The RCO has been an active part of the Richmond County Fine Arts curriculum since the 1970's, providing music education to thousands of students throughout the county.
We have six orchestras, spanning from 4th to 12th grades. The middle school level consists of two orchestras: Prelude (intermediate level) and Filarmonico (advanced).
Orchestra classes at Murphey will begin this September, during the week of the 14th. Students wishing to continue orchestra this year will need to be sure to be prepared with supplies and materials, such as instrument, bow, cleaning cloths, and rosin! A full list of supplies will be provided on the syllabus.
Please check back here regularly for any announcements, and also be sure to check your child's orchestra Canvas as all information will be distributed there.
Looking forward to a great year! Please contact me at any time!Mr. Connolly
