McBean Elementary School’s teachers offer a before-school tutoring program to assist students with basic reading and math skills. Tutoring will be offered on Friday mornings from 7:30-7:45am.

What are the benefits?

Elementary school is the window of opportunity for learning, and by involving your child in our tutoring program you are providing them with an important opportunity to increase their overall skills in reading and/or math.

Do I need to arrange transportation?

Yes. School does not open for car riders and/or bus riders until 7:45am, so you will need to arrange transportation because tutoring begins at 7:30am.

Do I need to supply any materials?

No. All supplies will be provided to the student.

Is homework assigned?

There will be no homework assigned.

How will I know how my child is doing?

You are more than welcome to contact your child’s teacher for an update on their progress at any time. Also, we will send home graded papers periodically as well as the Progress Reports and Report Cards that go home each quarter.

What do I need to do as a parent?

You and your child will be asked to sign a contract (see below) in which you agree to your child attending the before-school program. 

Please indicate your interest in having your child participate in the before-school tutoring program by signing and returning the attached contract. Once you have returned the contract, your child’s teacher will be in contact with you to schedule the day/time in which your child will attend. Please note that students are expected to attend all of their tutoring sessions, and are only allowed to have 3 unexcused absences before being dismissed from the program.
