Student Council 2019-2020 Application

Are you interested in helping others in our school and community?  Would you like to work towards making our school a better place? If so, you are perfect for Student Council! Student Council is an organization of students who work towards improving their school and community.

Student Council is made up of one representative from each 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th grade Homeroom class. Also, 4^th and 5^th grade students will be eligible to serve as Officers which includes: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Public Relations. 

The Student Council will meet once or twice a month after school to coordinate school and community projects.

In order to be a member of the Student Council, a student must:

• be a good role model
• demonstrate leadership qualities
• maintain good conduct grades (90 and above in conduct, NO office referrals)
• maintain grades of A’s and B’s
• maintain good attendance (no more than 5 absences and tardies)
• be available after school once or twice a month to attend meetings

If you are interested in being a Student Council member for your grade level complete the following:

Step 1: Application

Each 3^rd, 4^th or 5^th grade student interested in being on the Student Council must fill out the application form on the back of this letter that will be used to determine eligibility. Applications must be submitted to Ms. Lacy’s room 207 by Friday, August 16th.

Step 2: Election

Campaigning: Students running for positions may hang up posters and pass out campaign items such as flyers, buttons, etc. (no food or candy) starting on Monday, August 19^th.

Speeches: Each student who wants to be elected will give a brief (1-2 minute) speech to his/her classmates as to why he/she would be a good representative. Speeches will be on Monday August 26^th and Tuesday, August 27^th on the WGE Morning Show.

Voting:  All 3^rd-5^th grade students will vote on Wednesday, August 28^th.   Results will be announced on Friday, August 30^th.
