Welcome to 5th Grade!
Hello parents and students!!!!
I am excited to welcome you to 5th grade Social Studies and Science as we embark on a full year of learning! Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Mrs. Shepherd, and I look forward to educating your child about the growth of our nation and the world of science. I am originally from Florida, but I completed high school here in Richmond County. I graduated from Troy University (Troy, Alabama) with my undergraduate degree and graduated from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) with my Master’s degree.
My goal: Parent + Teacher + Student= SUCCESS
I believe that EVERY student can learn!!!!! I believe education works like kinetic energy, the more work a student puts into their education the more successful they will be!
READ! READ! READ! READ!
Reading is very important in our classroom. It needs to also be important at home. Statistics show that students who read at least 20 minutes a day generally will score in the 90th percentile on standardized tests. I encourage you to have your child read to you or your family daily.
Thanks so much in advance for being an important part of your student's life!
Mrs. Shepherd
