Welcome to the Academic and Creative Enrichment (A.C.E.) program! My name is Ms. Leslie Pierson, and I am the gifted teacher at Monte Sano Elementary and Glenn Hills Elementary. I work with gifted and talented students in first through fifth grade. Together, A.C.E. students and I will take an educational journey in the arts and sciences in a flexible learning environment with academic rigor and social-emotional learning! I am excited about all the learning that will take place this 2024-2025 school year.

Read! Read! Read!: Reading as an adolescent leads to success!  When adolescents and preteens read more than just their classroom assignments, research clearly shows that they generally do well in school. Foremost, the extra reading expands their vocabulary. It also shows them how different writers put down their thoughts, leading to better writing skills. The more kids read, the more information they pick up. This leads to a solid core of knowledge that is useful in a wide variety of classes. For example, the child who reads biographies has a better understanding of prominent people studied in history classes.

My Vision:

I envision my gifted students and I, coming into our classroom with a positive outlook, ready to dive into our learning and achieve at high levels through a variety of learning opportunities.  We will build relationships through collaboration, value and respect each other’s opinion no matter our differences, understand and accept setbacks as learning experiences, and embrace growing as independent thinkers.
