    POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS & SUPPORTS

PBIS:  What Is It and How Does It Work?

Glenn Hills Elementary School will begin utilizing Positive Behavioral Intervention Support, often referred to as the acronym PBIS. PBIS is a systemic approach to discipline that consists of school-wide expectations, consistency, consequences, and reward. Also, the goal of PBIS is to prevent the development and intensifying of problem behavior and maximize academic success for all students. Expectations will be posted throughout the school and taught to students regularly. PBIS helps to meet specific needs of students through interventions and strategies. It is aligned with the Richmond County discipline plan. A reward system or incentive program is used to encourage appropriate behaviors. PBIS information can be found at http://www.pbis.org.  You can contact Ms. Stephanie Ross, Administrative Intern, for more information about PBIS at GHES.
