About Me

Hello, my name is Shaketa Rouse. I'm teaching ELA/Math/Social Studies. If I had to describe myself in one word it would be dedicated. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 2^nd grade thanks to Mrs. Vanessa Chance-Darling. I grew up in Augusta, Ga and attended Lucy Craft Laney High School. I overcame my obstacles by putting my plans and goals into action. I was a long-term substitute for two years then got hired by the Board of Education. In 2023-2024, I was an 8^th grade ELA teacher at Hornsby Middle School. I saw tremendous growth in my students from CMAs to GMAS. The 2024-2025 school year was my first year teaching 7^th grade, then I came to "The Hill". I’m currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix for my Masters in Education. In the famous Whitney Houston voice, “I BELIEVE OUR CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE.”
