Tips to help students and parents new to middle school
Help your child get organized, as this is key to success in middle school. Ask your child to write down all assignments in all classes in his agenda. If there are no assignments in one subject, write down "none" in the appropriate area.
Ask your child to check his agenda at his locker at the end of the day to ensure all needed materials and books are brought home.
Help your child to develop a routine to complete homework every night.
Select a quiet place for your child to complete homework each evening.
Keep this designated work area stocked with pens, pencils, paper, chargers and other school materials.
Have your child organize a folder/binder for each subject area and date
Place completed homework in a designated area - two pocket folders work great.
Once all studying and assignments are completed, have your child pack his book-bag and place by the front door,
Establish these steps as a daily routine and your child will follow without direction.
