Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at Hephzibah Middle School.  As you start this school year, it should be with anticipation of all the new experiences that will be yours.  All students, teachers, administrators, and other support personnel assigned to the school have one thing in common – we are all part of this excellent school.

The HMS Student Handbook has been prepared as a guide for our students and parents to become acquainted with the policies and procedures that will be followed during the school year.  As any guide, it only serves as a framework from which you should plan your activities.  It is not possible to cover every situation in great detail, but only to give you the essentials upon which to start.  In the absence of specific instructions, you should comply with the spirit of good citizenship and character.  When in doubt, talk with your teachers.

You, the student, are the most important part of this school.  Without you, the school would cease to exist.  Be honest, carry your fair share of the load, and above all, apply yourself to the task at hand.  It is my fondest hope that your middle school days will be memorable and rewarding.

My expectations will be high, but they will not be unreasonable or unfair.  No matter how difficult you might find some of the challenges at Hephzibah Middle School, the future holds even greater and more difficult ones.  If you leave Hephzibah Middle School well prepared, it will make those future challenges much easier to meet and overcome.

                                                                                                                               Dr. Cameron Henry
